Hybrid version of the Fire Safety Inspector course for State of Ohio certification
Full Description
This course is designed to meet the requirements for Fire Safety Inspector as prescribed by the O.A.C. 4765-20-03 and NFPA 1031. Students learn the skills necessary to conduct fire safety
inspections from the OFA in conjunction with the SFM Code Enforcement Bureau. This course meets certification eligibility requirements for IFSAC Fire Inspector I and Fire Inspector II
certification. Students will gain an understanding of the fire inspector’s role in code enforcement, general fire prevention practices, fire safety requirements related to hazardous materials,
electrical systems and fire protection systems. Students must attend all classes and pass all written and practical exams to successfully complete the course. For certification, students must pass the Division of EMS Fire Safety Inspector exam.

REQUIREMENTS: Documentation of competency of NFPA 472, 2013 edition; Chapter 4 HazMat Awareness requirements, or the equivalent. For Ohio Certification, students must also submit:
Documentation of completion of National Incident Management System 100 and 700 on FEMA Certificate; Employment Verification - this is a Letter from your Fire Chief or Training Officer with Verification of employment and a Statement of Qualifications; Ohio Department of Public Safety Firefighter Certification.

Only applicants with all prerequisites will be considered for enrollment in the class.

I am a Volunteer Firefighter for purposes of Volunteer Support Grant Program if both of the following apply to you:

1. You are affiliated with or are endorsed by an Ohio volunteer fire department, a fire department of a political subdivision or fire district of this state, or a private volunteer company, as a firefighter;
and
2. You are NOT eligible or will NOT be eligible to be a member of the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund.

If you commenced work as a firefighter prior to November 8, 1990, please email the OFA at ofaweb@com.state.oh.us so that the OFA can assist in determining status.

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS FOR TEAMS ON A WINDOWS PC
Computer and processor: Minimum 1.6 GHz (or higher) (32-bit or 64-bit). Memory 2.0 GB RAM, Hard disk 3.0 GB of available disk space, Graphics hardware Minimum of 128 MB graphics memory.
Devices: Standard laptop camera, microphone, and headphones/ear buds.
For a better experience with online meetings, we recommend using a computer that has a dual-core processor and 8.0 GB RAM (or higher).
The optional Background video effects are not supported on processors without an AVX2 instruction set running on Windows 8.1 or below.

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS FOR TEAMS ON MOBILE DEVICES

Reporting Instructions
Report to the security desk in the main building on the first day of class where you will be issued an I.D. and given your classroom location. Please be in the classroom no later than 08:00.

Signup Details
This course starts on campus with two days of orientation. You will be introduced to the MS Teams platform, issued your Code books, and be given a tutorial on how to use them. This will be followed by a period where the class will meet several times on MS Teams for virtual instructor-led lectures, You will come back to Campus for two additional days followed by two more weeks of online lectures and the course will end with students coming back on campus for a certain number of days where you will complete the course with practical skills and written testing. Those individuals who pass all requirements will be eligible for IFSAC certification and to sit for the State certification exam.
