Full Description
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Transportation Emergency Preparedness
Program (TEPP) offers a Radiation Specialist Course sponsored jointly by the Ohio
Emergency Management Agency and the Ohio Fire Academy. Topics covered include:
analysis of a hazardous materials incidents involving radioactive materials; the complexity
of the problem and potential outcomes; planning a response for an emergency involving
radioactive materials within the capabilities of available personnel; personal protective
equipment; control equipment based on an analysis of the incident; and implementation
of a planned response to a radioactive materials incident. The course will include the use
of high activity “live” radiation sources.

HazMat Technician
NIMS IS-200 Certificate
NIMS IS-100 Certificate

Technician Level Hazardous Materials Certification
Completion of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Modular Emergency Response Radiological Transportation Training (MERRTT) or  IS-302: Modular Emergency Radiological Response Transportation Training (FEMA)
DHS/FEMA Radiological Response Team Initial Course or equivalent
Reporting Instructions
Report to the main building at 8AM on the first day of class. Class will begin at 0830
Housing is optional
