Full Description
This course meets the job performance requirements (JPRs) defined in NFPA 1006 chapters 6.1 and 6.2, 2021 edition, and provides students with Operational Level knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform Structural shoring, and Pt rescue at structural collapse incidents involving light frame and unreinforced masonry structures.

This physically demanding course prepares students to operate safely and efficiently at a building collapse incident. It offers practical scenarios in cutting/burning, breaching, lifting, stabilizing, searching, shoring, packaging, and removing victims from a simulated collapse environment.  Instruction will be provided both On-line, and in-person.  Students are required to complete the TEEX CBT SCS training course, and provide a certification of completion prior to arriving on campus. On-line learning will also be done via TEAMS, and students are required to attend all scheduled TEAMS meetings.  TEAMS meetings will be scheduled prior to the start of the class.  TEAMS meetings are scheduled based on the Lead Instructors availability. In-person learning will be at the OFA campus.  This course is five days in length, and 100% attendance is required for certification.

Additional information will be available upon course confirmation and student Enrollment. Students must complete written and hands-on skill competency evaluations to successfully complete the course. Students who successfully complete all course requirements are eligible for International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) certification.

Resources Required
Students must be in good physical condition. Safety glasses, safety helmet (rescue style preferred), work style boots, and rescue or work style gloves. An APR (Air purifying Respirator) and/or comparable respiratory protection such as N95/KN95 masks are required. Clothing should be appropriate for outdoor evolutions regardless of weather conditions. Students will be required to successfully complete practical and written assessments as part of course completion. Additional information will be available upon course confirmation. Contact the Academy Rescue Program Coordinator with any questions.

Students are required to complete the SCS-CBT course online from TEEX and provide the OFA with their certificate of completion prior to arriving on campus for class.  The TEEX program will be considered their written exam.  The TEEX program can be found at TEEX.Org.  More information will be given upon enrollment into the program.  On campus learning will focus on the Army Corp of Engineers FOG manual.  The FOG manual will be provided to students.
Reporting Instructions
As you arrive on campus, please go to the security desk located on the first floor of the Main building. After checking in you will be directed to the classroom assigned for your class. The online portion of this class with open up on Sept 22nd. There will be 4 2hr online lectures prior to reporting for the on-campus hands on portion. The on-campus portion is Oct 27th-31st.
