Brief Description: Basic study and operation of different sprinkler and standpipe systems

Full Description: This course covers the history and evolution of sprinklers, requirements for different systems, and hands-on practice with multiple standpipe and sprinkler systems in our lab. Students learn
operations and maintenance procedures of all types of automatic sprinkler and standpipe systems. The course is approved for 12 hours of Board of Building Standards (BBS) continuing education credit, BBS 2013-199a and BBS 2013-199b; and 12 hours of continuing education for fire safety inspectors, per O.A.C. 4765-20-16.

Prerequisites: I acknowledge and understand that all prerequisites must be satisfied at time of registration and I will not request any waivers unless previously approved in writing by the course coordinator.

Fire Chief attestation for volunteer firefighter support grant
I am a volunteer firefighter and wish to receive free training at the Ohio Fire Academy.

I attest that I am affiliated with or endorsed by an Ohio volunteer fire department, a fire department of a political subdivision or fire district of this state, or a private volunteer company, as a firefighter;

and

I am NOT eligible or will NOT be eligible to be a member of the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund.

If you commenced work as a firefighter prior to November 8, 1990, please email the OFA at ofaweb@com.state.oh.us so that the OFA can assist in determining status.

Fundamentals of Sprinkler and Standpipes program starts at 9:00 am on the first day, then 8:00 on the next day, both ending about 5:00. Lunch is included in the cost of the course. ...

Dress Code:
Please dress appropriate for the class (Uniform or Business Casual with Collared Shirt) NO shorts, NO blue jeans, NO t-shirts and NO hats in class.

Signup Details: Student Waiver form and COVID form MUST be uploaded when registering for the class. Failure to do so may result in not being enrolled in the class.
