Full Description
This is a pilot course offering so the tuition fee of $150 is being waived for all students participating in the class. Lunch is included but students will still be responsible for all other costs associated with the class (i.e., breakfast, dinner, housing).

This course is designed to deliver a comprehensive live fire training program in accordance with NFPA 1402, NFPA 1403, and NFPA 1500. with the utilization of lecture and practical teaching techniques students will be capable of accurately applying the above standards to all live fire training activities. This course will discuss all 9 chapters of NFPA 1403 and the referenced NFPA standards, review the required NFPA 1403 positions, safety requirements, check list, SOP's, inspect the Fire Academy's burn building and props and conduct an evaluation of an acquired structure for NFPA 1403 compliance and review other live fire training props and their associated requirements.
The purpose of the course is to provide a process for educating students/instructors on the proper techniques and requirements for conducting live fire training evolutions to ensure that they are conducted in safe facilities and that the exposure to health and safety hazards for the firefighters receiving the training is minimized.
This course meets the requirements set by the Dept. of Public Safety, Division of EMS in rule 4765-21-03 (C) of the Ohio Administrative Code and is designed as an initial training course for the fire instructor who will be instructing students participating in live fire training as part of an initial firefighter certification program through an authorized Ohio chartered fire training program. Students must bring full turnout gear to class to use on Day 4 and Day 5.
Students are required to purchase the textbook: Live Fire Training: Principles and Practice, 2nd Edition, with Advantage Access by Jones & Bartlett (ISBN  9781284140729). Resources Required
You will need a helmet and gloves for the entire class and on the burn days you will need full PPE/SCBA and an extra bottle.
Reporting Instructions
On-Line material and virtual Instructor-led lectures begin 6 weeks prior to meeting on campus. When you meet on campus you will check in at the main building and then report to the B building. Class begins at 0800 every day.
