Brief Description: Virtual Training - Persons with Developmental Disabilities: PANEL - Ohio Public Educator Network

Full Description: Join us for a hosted panel of subject matter experts that work with persons with varying developmental disabilities. This session will offer opportunities for the moderator to ask pre-screened questions about how to best communicate with persons with varying needs, as well as how to deliver best practices in education, being aware of the needs of the student and their preferred method of learning.

PANEL:
Tanya Hitchens is entering her 17th year at the Guernsey County Board of Developmental Disabilities where she is the Director of Service and Support Administration and Medicaid Services. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Ohio University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Ohio University.

Jennifer Oakley has been with the Guernsey County Board of DD for the past 4 years where she is the Employment Navigator and Provider Support. She is a graduate from Ohio University with a Bachelor's Degree in Sport Sciences.

Rebecca Allen is the branch manager for Empowered Community Services in Butler County. She has been working with persons with disabilities for 19 years.

The 4th Tuesday of the month is slated for an offering from the SFM or invited parties to present best-practices, updates, tips, and current topics pertinent to fire and life safety education. For the graduates of the Fire and Life Safety Educator classes, these can serve as enhancements to that training, as well as refreshers on topics discussed in the formal class.

The Ohio Public Educator Network is an informal monthly discussion group recently formed and facilitated by members of the SFM/Fire Prevention Bureau. On the 2nd Tuesday of each month we hold an open forum of discussion for persons serving as safety educators (whatever capacity) for their FD.

Computer and processor: Minimum 1.6 GHz (or higher) (32-bit or 64-bit). Memory 2.0 GB RAM, Hard disk 3.0 GB of available disk space, Graphics hardware Minimum of 128 MB graphics memory.
Devices: Standard laptop camera, microphone, and headphones/ear buds.
For a better experience with online meetings, we recommend using a computer that has a dual-core processor and 8.0 GB RAM (or higher).
The optional Background video effects are not supported on processors without an AVX2 instruction set running on Windows 8.1 or below.

The optional Blur my background video effect on iOS requires an operating system of iOS 12 or later and is compatible with the following devices: iPhone 7 or later, iPad 2018 (6th generation) or later, and the iPod touch 2019 (7th generation).
