Brief Description
Pilot Hybrid version of the OFA Trench Rescue Level I & II course.
Full Description
This is a pilot course offering so the tuition fee of $300 is being waived for all students participating in the class. Lunch is included but students will still be responsible for all other costs associated with the class (i.e., breakfast, dinner, housing).

This course meets the job performance requirements defined in NFPA 1006 chapters 6.1.1, 6.1.2, 8.1, and 8.2, to deliver a complete Trench Rescue Course. Students will be exposed to the basics of Trench Rescue and perform both Level I and Level II requirements. Students will begin with the concrete Trench Training Prop and finish with multiple live trench scenarios.

Students learn various shoring techniques, assorted trench layouts, hazard control
scenarios, scene management, rescue vs. recovery operation, and termination
procedures of a trench incident.

Resources Required
Students must be in good physical condition. Safety glasses, safety helmet (rescue style
preferred), work style boots and rescue or work style gloves are necessary. Clothing
should be appropriate for outdoor evolutions regardless of weather conditions.

The required textbook for this course is; Trench Rescue: Principles and Practice to NFPA 1006 and 1670, Third Edition, Jones & Bartlett, ISBN: 9781449641849. All chapters and sections are required to be read prior to the start of this course.  Please be advised, average delivery time when ordered from a distributor can be up to three weeks or more.

Students will be required to successfully complete practical and written assessments as part of course completion. Additional information will be available upon course confirmation. Contact the Academy Rescue Program Coordinator with any questions.
Reporting Instructions
Starts online on October 4 2021 and then meets on campus November 15-19, 2021. Report to the security desk in the main building to check-in and receive your classroom assignment. Students must be in class no later than 09:00 on the first day on campus. All other training days will begin at 08:00.
