Pilot Hybrid version of the OFA Vehicle Rescue Level I & II course
Full Description
This is a pilot course offering so the tuition fee of $375 is being waived for all students participating in the class. Lunch is included but students will still be responsible for all other costs associated with the class (i.e., breakfast, dinner, housing).

This course meets the job performance requirements defined in NFPA 1006 chapters 6.1.1, 6.1.2, 10.1, and 10.2 . Level I rescue skills are applicable to vehicle events involving common passenger
vehicles and environments where rescuer intervention does not constitute a high level of risk based upon the environment or other factors.

Students will be introduced to many different aspects covering vehicle and machinery design, access, and disentanglement of victims while developing a planned response all the way through termination of the event. Equipment stabilization and energy isolation play a large part in vehicle and machinery events and will be covered in this class. Students will have access to multiple passenger vehicles, small machinery, large vehicles and machinery. Resources are added and updated constantly so scenarios will not be finalized until the first day of class. With some of the best instructors in the country, students are sure to gain valuable knowledge and experience to be used in the real world and shared among their departments and peers.

Resources Required
Participants will need to bring PPE that is appropriate for Auto Extrication (SCBA not required). Appropriate sight and hearing protection is suggested. Leather gloves are recommended, though fire service gloves or other cut resistant gloves will be allowed upon inspection by the OFA staff. Clothing should be appropriate for outdoor evolutions regardless of weather conditions.  One day will be spent touring facilities to view production based machinery.  Proper footwear along with eye and ear protection may be required.

The required textbook for this course is;
Principles of Vehicle Extrication, 4th Edition, Fire Protection Publications, ISBN: 978-0-87939-597-1. All chapters and sections are required to be read prior to the start of this course.  Please be advised, average delivery time when ordered from a distributor can be up to three weeks or more.

Students will be required to successfully complete practical and written assessments as part of course completion. Additional information will be available upon course confirmation. Contact the Academy Rescue Program Coordinator with any questions.
Reporting Instructions
Starts Online on February 15, 2021 and meets on campus March 29 - April 2, 2021. Report to the security desk in the main building to check-in and receive your classroom assignment. Students must be in class no later than 09:00 on the first day on campus. All other training days will begin at 08:00.
