This two-day program is designed for firefighters looking to gain experience in fire suppression.
Full Description
This two-day program is designed for firefighters that are looking to gain some valuable experience in basic fire suppression, hose movement, and fire behavior. Students will experience our Mobile Fire Behavior Lab (Flashover unit) in order to gain a better understanding of fire behavior and flashovers.  Students will also have the opportunity to work on their hose advancement and water application skills during live fire evolutions in our burn structure. Students will leave this course with valuable hands-on experience, and fortified knowledge of firefighting fundamentals.

Resources Required
Participants must be in good physical condition and bring their own personal protective equipment (PPE) and an SCBA with two full cylinders. This equipment must be NFPA compliant, and will be inspected by Academy personnel prior to any participation in fire training.  Beards are not permitted.

All students must provide documentation indicating they meet all prerequisites listed below.
Requirements:
1. Students must submit a copy of their valid Ohio Firefighter Certification Card (minimum, Ohio 36-hour Volunteer Firefighter).
2. Students that only have an Ohio Volunteer Firefighter card must also submit a signed letter from their Fire Chief, indicating they meet the requirements outlined in NFPA 1403, Chapter 4.3.
Reporting Instructions
Report to the main building at 9AM on the first day and 8AM every day after

Students must hold a minimum of an Ohio 36-hour (Volunteer Firefighter) certification card AND meet the prerequisite requirements listed in NFPA 1403 objectives 4.3. If you already hold an Ohio Firefighter I or Firefighter II certification, this letter is not required and you may request a waiver.
