This is a blended Fire Department Health and Safety Officer course.
Full Description
This course delivers a comprehensive management approach to occupational safety and health issues. Designed for aspiring or practicing safety officers, fire and EMS department managers, and other fire and emergency medical personnel. The course covers the rationale for increasing the emphasis on health and safety. This course covers the most current NFPA and Occupational Safety and Health Administration Standards, incorporates the 16 Fire and Life Safety Initiatives, and complies with the Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education course outcomes. The course also covers new information on risk management, fire ground rules of air management, highway scene safety and pandemic considerations. Upon completion, students are prepared for certification testing by the National Board of Fire Service Professional qualifications as a fire department health and safety officer through the Fire Department Safety Officers Association. PREREQUISITE: Incident Safety Officer course. You will also be required to complete online assignments prior to the on campus course start date.

Reporting Instructions
This course begins Saturday, July 20, 2019, with online assignments and projects due prior to arrival on campus. The class meets face to face on campus Tuesday, September 03, 2019, at 9:00am to Thursday, September 05, 2019. Students must complete the online portion of the course to be able to attend the on campus portion.
