Full Description
This course is for the Fire Officer who provides a leadership role within his/her department. The Ohio Fire Academy offers the only National Fire Academy recognized Fire Officer II program in the State of Ohio. This course expands on the management techniques learned in Fire Officer I and focuses on public education and community relations; budget preparation and requests; legal responsibilities; time management; and emergency operations management. This course covers all objectives of NFPA 1021, Standard of Professional Qualifications for Fire Officer II.

The L.A.CK. course may have been completed at the OFA or online through the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation at www.everyonegoeshome.org.

Students are required to bring laptops or tablets with current office software and Wi-Fi access to class. This is an intense, competency-based program that includes pre-course and evening assignments. Evaluations of student performance will be conducted throughout the course, including a comprehensive course final. Passing the final exam is required for successful completion of the course. Students are encouraged to purchase the Fire Officer Principles and Practice with Navigate 2 Premier Access textbook, Published by Jones and Bartlett as soon as practical in order to access the pre-course assignments online. Students that already have this textbook may purchase a student code for the new course from Jones & Bartlett.

The $25 course fee is a result of a grant from the NFA; no show students will be billed full cost of the course at $250
