Fire Dynamics; Bringing the Science to the Streets
Full Description
This class is intended for all members of the fire service including suppression, investigation, code enforcement, public education and CRR staff.

Students will review traditional fire dynamics as we have understood them, how fire dynamics have changed in the last twenty to thirty years and the implication of those changes.  Topics covered include fire dynamics, flow path, smoke as a fuel, the significance of door and ventilation control, the impact of temperature and pressure on fire development, water mapping and air entrainment.  

Students will then consider the impact this information has on the fireground operations, fire code application, fire investigations and Community Risk Reduction.

Volunteer Support Grant Program

I am a Volunteer Firefighter for purposes of Volunteer Support Grant Program if both of the following apply to you:

1. You are affiliated with or are endorsed by an Ohio volunteer fire department, a fire department of a political subdivision or fire district of this state, or a private volunteer company, as a firefighter;
and
2. You are NOT eligible or will NOT be eligible to be a member of the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund.

If you commenced work as a firefighter prior to November 8, 1990, please email the OFA at ofaweb@com.state.oh.us so that the OFA can assist in determining status.

Signup Details
This class involves hands on laboratory experiments, demonstrations of principals being explored utilizing props and the observation of a live burn in which the principals will be demonstrated. There fore students should dress accordingly for the anticipated weather.
